Censuses – The Backbone of Family Research

Using U.S. Census information to research your family can be a highly successful way of

  • getting started with family research,
  • seeing when and where your ancestors were living and who they were living with, and
  • finding basic, clear information about your relatives' lives.

The 1950s census data is now available! Learn to access census data at home using your Woodridge Public Library card and Heritage Quest.

Suz Bates, a local genealogist, will present step-by-step directions for “doing the censuses” for your family history research. She will show you how keeping track of your research leads you to hints about your next steps.
