Tired of being overrun by mosquitoes at your backyard barbecue? Invite bats to the party! Learn how these tiny flying mammals are beneficial members of a balanced ecosystem. Even with their sometimes frightening reputation, we need bats in the neighborhood. In this virtual program, discover the different bats that call the Chicago area home, how and where they live, where they go during the winter, and how you can help them thrive.

Angela Rafac, Interpretive Naturalist - and bat expert - with the Forest Preserve District of Will County, will join us virtually from the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon, Illinois. With Halloween just around the corner, Angela will explain why you should APPRECIATE and not fear bats! She'll also answer all of your bat-related questions, including how you can attract these helpful insect-eaters to your garden.

Thursday, September 23, 7 p.m. This is a free virtual program using Zoom.
