Program Description

Event Details

Be an engineer! Experiment with different types of objects in a wind tunnel lab using a wind tube on loan from the DuPage Children's Museum. What flies well? How does air move across objects? Make observations and chart your results. Experiments, photo ops, fun science facts: don't miss this special BHM STEM event.

Younger children will need help from a caretaker to conduct experiments and make observations.

Did you know...after conducting experiments in a Supersonic Pressure Tunnel, a 60,000 horsepower wind tunnel capable of blasting models with winds approaching twice the speed of sound, Mary Winston Jackson became NASA's first black female engineer? Mary believed children should have hands-on science fun and the knowledge that they too could be a scientist or engineer.
