CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY

Join us in February for programs that educate and entertain in honor of Black History Month.

Experience a celebration of Black history through stories authored and illustrated by Black writers and illustrators. We'll be hosting the traveling panel exhibition Telling a People’s Story in our lobby all month during library hours. Telling a People’s Story is the first major museum exhibition devoted to the art found within the pages of African-American children’s picture books.

Don't miss special book displays in the Children's and Adult Departments.

Attend a high-quality Illinois Libraries Present virtual program highlighting Black excellence. On Tuesday, February 6, Jerry Craft will talk about life and art and give a drawing demo that will be fun for the whole family. On Tuesday, February 20, Julia Quinn will helps us feel the romance with a discussion about Bridgerton and all things romance.
